Heather’s Healing Hands
The Power Of Muscle Testing.
Also called applied kinesiology, muscle testing provides an often-uncanny means of identifying exactly the right supplements and substances to support your pet’s unique body and condition.
The practice, which has surged in popularity over recent decades, can be used as a wholly non-invasive tool for tapping into the body's hidden messages. The theory behind it may sound a little “woo-woo” at first, but it unfailingly yields results that are difficult to deny.
Muscle testing is based on the theory that the body, and therefore the subconscious mind, has an inherent knowledge of its own needs. It knows what will help it regain balance and optimum health, versus what will unbalance it and contribute to ailments.
To communicate directly with the subconscious, the practitioner will assess a selected muscle’s response to stimulus or suggestion. While it is just one muscle representing a wider bodily response, remember that the body is made up of trillions of cells, all connected by a complex nervous system, a.k.a. energy circuits.
The aim of muscle testing is to identify those things that help bring the body and immune system back into optimal alignment while minimizing those things that weaken or throw it out of balance. By doing this, we can unlock the body’s astounding ability to heal itself when support is provided and blockages are removed.

Veterinary Orthopedic Manipulation (VOM)
Veterinary Orthopedic Manipulation (VOM)—sometimes called Veterinary Neuronal Adjustment (VNA)—operates on similar principles.
VOM supports overall wellness and proper function by unlocking the body’s inherent self-healing capabilities. This is done by shifting the spinal column back into proper alignment and relieving subsequent compression of the entwined nerves, triggering the body’s natural healing mechanisms and restoring a more normal range of motion.
VOM was developed over four decades ago by veterinary surgeon William L. Inman (BS, DVM, CVCP), who sought to fill the void between traditional veterinary medicine and chiropractic care as an alternative modality.
A gentle noninvasive technique, VOM is performed using a hand-held device known as the “activator”. It’s quick, easy, and effective, and pets often relax and enjoy the treatment immensely.
The activator tool targets specific areas of the pet’s spine that are capable of shifting a misaligned joint back into its proper position (reducing what’s referred to as a neuronal “subluxation”).
During the treatment, Heather will do a "diagnostic pass" over your pet’s body to discover any subluxations. Then, she’ll perform a “therapeutic pass” and note any changes in the readings, which may lead to further passes to find and alleviate all subluxations.
While some pets see remarkable results after the first treatment alone, most will need 3-4 sessions before improvement becomes apparent.
VOM is useful in treating a wide variety of diseases and conditions, including lameness, hip dysplasia syndromes, intervertebral disc disease, urinary and fecal incontinence, Wobblers' disease, knee problems, digestive disorders, endocrine diseases, performance/agility problems, behavioral problems, and many more.

Canine Massage
Canine massage is a therapeutic practice that involves applying various massage techniques to dogs to promote relaxation, reduce muscle tension, and enhance overall well-being. Through gentle manipulation of muscles, joints, and soft tissues, canine massage aims to alleviate pain, improve circulation, and enhance flexibility in dogs of all ages and breeds. This holistic approach not only addresses physical discomfort but also fosters emotional and mental balance in dogs, often resulting in reduced stress levels and improved behavior. Canine massage practitioners tailor their techniques to address specific needs and conditions, such as arthritis, injury recovery, or anxiety, providing a non-invasive and complementary therapy option for enhancing the health and happiness of canine companions.
Animal Neuro Myofascial Release (ANMR)
Animal Neuro Myofascial Release (ANMR) is a specialized therapeutic approach designed to address the neuromuscular and fascial systems of animals. Through gentle manual manipulation and targeted techniques, ANMR aims to release tension, restrictions, and imbalances present in the muscles, nerves, and fascia of animals. By addressing these underlying issues, ANMR can alleviate discomfort, improve mobility, and enhance overall well-being in animals, ranging from household pets to performance animals. Practitioners of ANMR focus on restoring proper function and balance to the neuro-musculo-skeletal system, often resulting in increased flexibility, reduced pain, and enhanced performance in animals. This holistic modality considers the interconnectedness of the body systems, promoting optimal physical and mental health for the animals under care.
The Body Code
One system that incorporates muscle testing is ‘The Body Code’, invented by Dr. Bradley Nelson, a globally renowned expert in bioenergetic medicine. Along the same lines, The Body Code is a powerful self-healing method that aims to identify and release underlying energetic imbalances in the body.
This holistic approach to health and wellness relies on theories that are well-known and widely used elsewhere in alternative medicine. Like Eastern Medicine practices, it operates on the idea that imbalances in the body's energy system can lead to various physical and emotional ailments, and seeks to promote healing by removing such imbalances.
The Body Code focuses on balancing the body's energy systems, which include meridians, chakras, and the body’s overall energy field. Muscle testing is one of the methods used to assess the patient’s responses to stimuli (as expressed by muscle strength or weakness) to identify such imbalances or determine the appropriate corrective actions.
